Preview of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Stage Play Shows How They Got Nausicaa to Fly

On October 1, we reported how the Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind stage play was coming along and how Hayao Miyazaki, the creator of the film and manga, gave the kabuki play his approval, as long as he didn’t have to do any of the work. On December 5, to preview the ongoing show at Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre in Ginza, Oricon News released a 3-minute video with footage from one of the final rehearsals of the kabuki play.

The rehearsal video shows us how Onoe Kikunosuke V looks as Nausicaä flying on her glider as well as the Ohm creatures, recreated perfectly for the stage show. Teto, Nausicaä's pet fox-squirrel, is also adorably shown off in its puppet form.

The Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind kabuki play is currently running at Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre in Ginza, Tokyo until December 25. There will be a theatrical version screened in cinemas all over Japan from February 14.
